Fused Glass

Quilt Square Fused Glass Dish

Still here in El Mirage, Arizona fusing glass. This piece was made from scrap glass and patch worked together like a quilt block. I was quite happy with it. A good use of white dots I had left over and tiny white squares I cut from scrap. The dark green was a transparent scrap from the trash bin.

Fun with Alcohol Inks

Alcohol ink paintings

This is another side track I've been experimenting with. It is easy to do in a small scale and in a small space such as my motor home. The colors are so vibrant and you can use them on Yupo substrate. If you don't like what you've done just wipe it off with alcohol and start over.

You can use various tools to apply the inks such as Qtips, brush, and pouring. You can lift areas to lighten with Qtip or corner of paper towel. If it is already dry just use a little alcohol to lift and lighten an area.

The paintings below are about 5x7 except the 3rd one is about 10x7.

Fused Glass

Side tracked from painting

I am in Phoenix area for three months at a RV golf resort. They have many working studios here and one of them is fused glass. So naturally I had to try my hand at it. The following photos are my first projects. It is a very addicting art form. I will have to see about how to follow up with this when I get back home.

Acrylic Landscape

"0n the Way to Jenner by the Sea".....acrylic painting on gesso board

This painting is from the California Coast near Jenner and Bodega Bay. i was so impressed by the texture and variety of vegetation growing down the cliffs near the ocean. The fan brush came in very handy for highlighting and detailing the ice plant and shrubbery.

Acrylic Painting

Valley Ford, CA......acrylic painting on gesso board

I took a photo near Bodega Bay California at near sunset when the sun was low and golden. The fields were literally this bright. There is know way you could sit and paint this plein air. The lighting changed so fast I was lucky to get a photo.
